Slipping into the costume of a superhero can burn a hole in one’s pocket. But Shahrukh Khan’s pockets are deep enough to afford that.
SRK has had his body suit for the sci-fi thriller Ra.One made at the whopping cost of Rs. 1 crore (10 million) in Los Angeles. And getting it made was not easy either.
We hear the suit was made in a complex procedure that required a nearly nude SRK to step inside a chamber. Once inside, a warm latex-like substance was released in the chamber and filled up till SRK’s neck. The idea was to take a mould of SRK’s body figure. When the rubbery substance cooled down, it was slashed neatly into two parts and taken off SRK’s body.
The entire process was uncomfortable for SRK, but he endured it with his usual charm.
However, it was only the first step in making SRK’s bodysuit. The two slashed parts would be joined to form the mould of SRK’s body, and after a complex procedure, a steel-blue coloured body suit, allowing its wearer both flexibility and protection, would be made.
To be directed by Anubhav Sinha, ‘Ra.One’ stars Kareena Kapoor as SRK’s love interest.
