Gauging the stupendous run of Shahrukh Khan’s latest film My Name Is Khan worldwide, the film’s distributor Fox STAR Studios India has plans to dub the film in German and Turkish to reach wider audience.
The movie, directed by Karan Johar and also starring Kajol, opened last week to a record breaking start for any Hindi movie at the box office abroad. Since the film’s subject strikes a resonance with Muslims the decision to dub it in Turkish has been taken. Moreover, the movie will also be released in Poland with Polish subtitles.
“In Germany, we want the film to go down much deeper to the German audience and that particular market prefers films to be dubbed. So that's why we are dubbing it in German and Turkish,” Vijay Singh, CEO of Fox STAR Studios India, is quoted as saying.
Singh also revealed the company’s plan to release ‘My Name Is Khan’ in 25 non-traditional markets throughout the world from March to June this year. In Germany it will release on 40 screens, the most for any Bollywood film so far. And in Poland, the subtitled version will release in March on 50 screens.
Well, the SRK magic seems to be working worldwide.
